About Dr. Abhishek Gangopadhyay
Dr. Abhishek Gangopadhyay is a highly accomplished GI, HPB & Thoracic Cancer Surgeon based in Kolkata, with over nine years of specialist experience in complex oncological surgeries. Currently serving as Assistant Professor at the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), he has played a pivotal role in shaping GI Oncology services in Eastern India. He is one of the founding members of the GI Oncology Department at CNCI and was instrumental in establishing both the Liver Surgery Program and West Bengal’s first superspecialty MCh training in Surgical Oncology.Dr. Gangopadhyay's areas of expertise include colorectal and gastroesophageal cancers, hepatobiliary and gallbladder malignancies, pancreatic tumors, retroperitoneal sarcomas, and thoracic cancer surgeries. He is especially renowned for performing advanced procedures such as cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC, along with minimally invasive cancer surgeries.Academically brilliant, Dr. Gangopadhyay holds an MCh in Surgical Oncology (Gold Medalist), MS in General Surgery (Gold Medalist), MBBS (Gold Medalist in Internal Medicine), and MRCS (England). He has authored several impactful international publications and has been invited as faculty at premier conferences like ICC, NATCON, APHPBA, and EBM.
